iTunes Store adds hundreds of SD movie rentals

The iTunes Stores, a place still flush with songs that will cost me 99¢ today and another 30¢ when it finally goes 100% DRM-free, has added 376 more standard-definition (SD) movies to its rental section and that's gospel truth as printed by Apple TV Junkie (Ars Technica).

Some of these "new" movie rental titles include: A to Zeppelin: The Unauthorized Story of Led Zeppelin, Love, Building Bombs, City Hall, Death Race, Flying Down to Rio, Hard to Kill, Incident At Loch Ness, King Kong (Extended Version) [2005], Kon-Tiki, Max Payne, My Winnipeg, Pushing Tin, Saturday Night Fever, Swept Away, The Banger Sisters, The Buddy Holly Story, The Damned (1969), The First Vampire, The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), The Three Faces of Eve, The Who: Six Quick Ones, Treasure Island (1950), Victor/Victoria, Where the Buffalo Roam and Wishmaster.

If each one of those flicks is 90 minutes long and rent for $2.99, then the iTunes Store has just provided you with 564 hours of entertainment and Apple with more than $1,100 in fresh revenue (assuming you watched all of them at full price).

To date, according to the lads Ars, the iTunes Stores offers over 600 titles in high-definition (HD).

Editor's note: Apple's been offering 99¢ movies for some time--at first one per week and now three per week--though they and their movie studio partners should consider making a huge swath of the flick available at that price permanently...
