Apple eats up world-wide flash RAM supplies

AppleInsider parses a recent ThinkEquity Partners report on Apple's appetite for NAND Flash RAM. Flash RAM is the memory used in Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch.

Apple is pulling in serious inventory for flash RAM as of late. This both reflects the popularity of its mobile devices, and perhaps a clue towards the future. If Apple had a product launch coming up, it would most certainly seek to secure component inventory. In fact, Apple has purchased all of Samsung's current inventory. AppleInsider notes that Samsung accounts for over 40% of the world supply. Recent purchases has sucked up the company's inventory through April 2009.

The Website also notes that other major makers Hynix and Toshiba are seeing their supplies constrained likely, by Apple's buying. Last year, Apple was the world's largest buyer of flash RAM, and certainly is on tract to maintain that crown.
