Apple offers $999 iMac for education institutional orders
August 8th 2011
Apple has produced a special iMac intended for the education market. The sub-$1000 all-in-one desktop is geared for computer labs and classrooms with some slimmed down specs.
The 21.5-inch iMac comes equipped with a dual-core Intel Core i3 processor running at 3.1 GHz. This is noteworthy since no other iMac ships with the i3. Apple only ships dual and quad i5 and i7 processors for all other customers. The desktop also does not list Thunderbolt port, making it resemble the previous generation iMac with an i3 upgrade.
To qualify for the purchase, you have to be a registered education K-12 or college/university. Purchasers can sign into Apple's online store for pricing and orders.
