iOS 9 and El Capitan now available as public beta

Eric Slivka:

Just a day after releasing a new set of developer builds for iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan, Apple today launched its public beta program for both upcoming operating systems. Apple had announced at WWDC last month that it would launch the public betas in July,

I think it's interesting Apple has given up on the idea of closed betas.

In the past iOS betas have been pretty rocky so I'll be curious how far baked the public release is. I feel like companies have labeled beta on products are are basically complete, but not fully tested. In other words, they feel confident, but want to rely on the beta label for PR reasons if anything goes screwy

Hopefully Apple has ramped up its release cycle to be more mature than the typical July iOS releases. If so, that should benefit the x.0 release not being so rushed.
