Jaybird X2 is the follow-up to BlueBuds X Bluetooth earphones

Wednesday Jaybird announced the X2 earphones. Touted as "improved on BlueBuds X in every way," the headphones offer the same key features that I really like in the BlueBuds X. They have a light-weight design with long battery life and promise a secure comfortable fit.

The Enhanced Bluetooth Audio involves a custom audio codec to deliver improved audio over Bluetooth using an enhanced bitrate. The headphones also offer up to 8 hours of playback per charge. Interesting, the X2 has a feature called SignalPlus to aims to position the antenna to avoid cross-body interface. Occasionally I'd notice this with the BlueBuds X, so I'm interested to see how that works.

Like the BlueBuds X, the X2 also have an in-line controller and microphone for device control and calls.

I'm a big fan of the BlueBuds X and actually own two pairs. They've held up well over the years. Great battery and really good sound I think for something so light in a Bluetooth headset.

X2 is expected to be available in retailers in September for an MSRP of $179.95.
