Jobs Wins CEO of the Year Award

Steve Jobs is the San Francisco Chronicle's CEO of the Year, a title awarded for his work at both Apple and Pixar.

The winner is chosen from a Chronicle list of 200 companies based on revenues.

"What he has done is a unique accomplishment,'' said Mike McGuire, of GartnerG2, who is quoted in the article. "Both companies...weren't just successful. They're helping to reshape some industries.''

Revenues were not the chief factor in determining the winner, the Chronicle says. Of the 200 companies, both Intel and HP rank far ahead of Apple in terms of turnover. Yet, Jobs at both of his companies was noted for his innovation which has changed industries. At Apple, this included the development of the iPod and iTunes for Mac/Windows. At Pixar, Finding Nemo not only brought in dollars for Disney, but it consolidated the ascendancy of the computer-animated film.

"Steve Jobs single-handedly changed the music industry completely," said another analyst quoted in the story, referring to Apple's success in signing major record companies to the iTunes Music Store.

Jobs is also noted for his position as CEO of two major publicly-traded firms, something few people have achieved.

Analysis: Steve must have an entire room full of these wall plaques. Does he ask himself, "So I why do I only make $1 per year?"
