MWNY: Jobs - "Fastest OS Transition in History"

Apple CEO Steve Jobs today fired salvos back at this week's accusations from MacBU General Manager Kevin Browne that Apple was not moving users to OS X fast enough.

Jobs said in his keynote this morning that of systems shipped with OS X as the boot system, some 77% of users stayed in OS X.

"The fastest OS transition in history," said Jobs. "Faster than Microsoft," he added as a shot across the bows.

Jobs also pointed to the 100,000-plus visitors per week to Apple Retail Stores and the enormous numbers of hits on the 'Switchers' site coming from Windows machines.

Jobs also reiterated Schiller's earlier defense of OS X adoption, stating that Apple was on target to have 5 million OS X users by the end of the 2002.
