Mac growth stalling?
April 9th 2007
For the first time since September of last year, Net Applications has published data indicating a decline in Mac market share. Their most recent figures put the combined OS X PPC (3.94) and Mactel (2.14) at 6.08 percent--a drop of thee-tenths of a percent since our last write up on the subject.
Apple's Mac-only Safari has also experienced a slip from a high last of 4.85 percent to 4.5 percent today.
However, not all of the news this month is bad as Firefox continues to steadily gain share against Internet Explorer. The April browser Top 5 looks like this--IE (78.67), Firefox (15.10), Safari (4.51), Opera (0.80) and Netscape (0.70).
In the "you could smell it coming department," Vista has finally cracked the OS online market share Top 5 months after its initial release.
Editor's note: A pause before a surge of CS3 Mac Pro buying pushes numbers up again, hmmm?
