A Dock for Slim MacBook?

Macworld reports on a patent filed by Apple for its widely-rumored ultra-portable notebook. The patent was filed in July 2006 and granted Thursday.

The dock can be used as a monitor for the notebook, as well as supporting data connections between the portable and other peripherals and devices. The dock will be equipped with BlueTooth and Airport.

Apple is also thought to be working with Intel on a ultra-low power processor for the portable. Like the PowerBook Duo of the 1990s, the notebook (or tablet, as some suggest) slides into the side of the dock, giving the user access to the portable's ports.

Analysis: Still all based on supposition, and no one's seen anything either in the lab or out in the wild. If they just release revamped MacBooks after all this, it will be a heck of an anti-climax.
