OS X 10.5.2 coming Friday?
January 22nd 2008
MacRumors speculates that OS X 10.5.2 might be released as early as Friday.
The latest seed (9C20) lists no known issues. [Apple's] also separated the graphics drivers out into a separate update called Leopard Graphics Update, which must be installed after Mac OS X 10.5.2. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Apple is shooting for a public release this Friday.
Many of the features and fixes in OS X 10.5.2 are documented, but there are also some late additions, which are said to include:
• DVD / CD Sharing
• Optional translucent menu bar
• List view in Stacks
Whether OS X 10.5.2 comes Friday or a few days later isn't particularly important, because this update is what many have been waiting for. It's widely believed it will put to bed a range of nettlesome problems--from Creative Suite and QuickTime oddities to performance issues (ie new Intel compilers)--that have dogged Leopard users since its release in October last.
Thereupon, it has to be said that a 400MB--its rumored size--"update" should be good for something...
What's your take?
