Online Mac share at 7.46%
March 2nd 2008
Last month, Insanely-Great reported that the Mac's online share stood at 7.57 percent, up 0.27 from December.
This time around, however, Net Applications data shows that the fairer platform posted a small retreat to 7.46 percent. Hiccups like this aren't unusual and it's worth noting that the overall trend is overwhelmingly positive, up about 20 percent year-over-year.
For its part, the iPhone saw its share rise to 0.14 percent, up from 0.13 percent--the same increase as last month. As you might expect, Apple's hot-selling handset is showing up in an ever-growing list of disparate places worldwide.
On the browser front, the Top 5 looks like this:
01 Internet Explorer--74.88%
02 Firefox--17.27%
03 Safari--5.70%
04 Opera--0.69%
05 Netscape--0.68%
Apple's Safari, like the Mac, is showing a small retreat this month, down from 5.82 percent in our last report. Of course, Firefox continues to eat Microsoft's lunch, which is a good thing™.
Editor's note: A bump in the road, which is no big deal. Apple COO Tim Cook's recent remark that the sky's the limit for Mac growth should be encouragement enough...
