iSuppli: Q4 Mac volume way up


In the final quarter of 2007, the Mac's US online market share rose rapidly from 6.55 percent in October to 7.3 percent by the end of December.

Adding weight to this message that Mac growth is an iSuppli report, detailing more concrete unit shipment numbers for Q4 '07, showing Apple-branded computers gaining share both in the US and global markers.

"Apple's reinvigorated Intel microprocessor-based products obviously are striking a chord with PC buyers," said Matthew Wilkins, principal analyst, iSuppli.

Apple's Q4 '07 shipments were up 39.3 percent year-over-year, according to iSuppli, which earned the company the No 6 position globally.

Likewise, laptop unit data from DisplaySearch shows that Apple boosted shipments by 38 percent for a 4.1 percent share of the global market and the No 9 spot.

According Gartner data for Q3 '07, the most-current available, Apple's share of the US market stood at 8.1 percent, giving it the No 3 spot.
