Apple no big Flash orders in '08?


For several months now, we've bringing you news of falling iPod orders and crashing flash prices.

Today, DigiTimes reports that Apple hasn't placed any sizable any Flash memory thus far this year. But, then again, they didn't quite word it that way.

In contrast to the huge procurement of NAND flash the company made in 2007, Apple seems to not have started making big procurements in 2008.

Their report states that the mothership concentrated their Flash purchases over a period of several months last year with Intel, Hynix, Micron and Samsung getting the bulk of those orders.

Yesterday, Intel said it would make and sell 80GB and 160GB SSD drives.

So, Apple's got so much Flash on hand they don't need to place fresh, large-scale orders? Well, that would explain a few things...
