Apple buying 32GB modules?
March 27th 2008
For months now, we've heard rumors about Apple cutting back iPod and flash memory orders. That situation may be turning around.
In a largely pointless article about who's angling for better prices, DigiTimes reports claims by Hynix and Samsung that Apple is stocking up on high-density 32GB Flash memory modules.
This report would seem to add weight to today's news that revised iPod nano and touch models are due in the third quarter. And, yes, there's also the rumor that Apple's ordered 10-million 3G iPhones.
Further, IGM has recently reported spot iPhone shortages, as well as rumors that Apple will boost storage and / or cut iPhone / touch prices soon.
Thereupon, we may be seeing a confluence of increased buying to meet near-term shortfalls and preparations for new iPhone and iPod models in the third quarter...
