MBA in stock everywhere...
April 1st 2008
The online Apple Store is now listing the MacBook Air with 24-hour availability. This product had been in short supply since it launched with spot shortages nationwide.
Here's a quick check of MBA and iPhone availability at the brick-n-mortar locations with driving distance of me (Erie, PA):
• Buffalo, Walden Galleria
-- Both MBA models in stock
-- All iPhone models sold out, no idea on restock
• Pittsburgh, Shadyside
-- Both MBA models in stock
-- All iPhone models sold out, no idea on restock
iPhone--"It's pretty much a company-wide shortage," said the associate who answered the phone.
• Pittsburgh, South Hills Village
-- Both MBA models in stock
-- All iPhone models sold out, no idea on restock
• Cleveland, Legacy Village
-- Both MBA models in stock
-- 8GB iPhone only
When I checked Apple's MacBook Air retail availability page last night after 9pm (when it's supposed to be refreshed), it showed what it's showing now--no information. Perhaps Apple's going to remove this functionality now that they've caught up with demand.
Vis-a-vis the iPhone, I'm somewhat surprised an announcement wasn't made today as there are many signs, not just the shortages, pointing to an imminent refresh...
