Mac online share at 7.48%
April 1st 2008
When IGM last looked (March 2) at the Mac's share of online traffic, users of the fairer platform accounted for 7.46 percent of those measured, a drop from the previous month yet up about 20 percent year-over-year.
This month Net Applications data shows a statistically insignificant rise to 7.48 percent. Again, however, a year-over-year comparison yields an impressive rise of about 23 percent.
The iPhone continues the recent trend by adding 0.01 percent to hit 0.15 percent.

For this first time, Net Applications has broken out browser market share for the Mac segment. Their data shows that 73.33 percent of users are on Safari, OS X' default browser, and nearly one-in-four (24.16 percent) have chosen Firefox.
Here's the overall browser Top 5 for March:
01 Internet Explorer 74.8 percent (74.88*)
02 Firefox 17.83 (17.27)
03 Safari 5.82 (5.7)
04 Opera 0.69 (0.69)
05 Netscape 0.55 (0.68)
* Last month's share
It's interesting to note that Firefox is eating Netscape, which was discontinued last month.
