iMac, mini at last? [u]
April 24th 2008
GeekSugar, a website whose name disturbs me on so many levels, is reporting a rumor from a source that 'hasn't let them down before' that the much anticipated iMac + Mac mini refresh is just around the corner:
Stay tuned, because next week (most likely Tuesday) Apple will be introducing new iMacs to their product line-up! The new and improved iMacs are said to be at the same price point as the current models and will probably receive a speed bump as well as a hard-drive increase.
A speed bump plus a hard-drive goose? Perhaps the iMac, which was fully refreshed last August, but certainly the Mac mini will be getting more than a little a botox.
It's established wisdom that the mini will get a complete internal overhaul with some saying, nay, repeating a rumor that Apple's headless desktop will shrink to half its current size.
Smaller or just the same size, the world needs new minis (and I need a cheap last-gen refurb). Faster iMacs are just gravy...
What's your take?
[u] AppleInsider offers the following about the iMac:
A memo distributed among some of Apple's stateside channel partners this week has reportedly provided a heads-up on the refresh, informing them that the changes will primarily touch on the systems' processors and hard drives rather than a significant redesign. [u]
