Thunderbird 3 alpha 1

Mozilla has released Thunderbird 3 alpha 1 (release notes), a development build of the open-source group's stand-alone, multi-platform email client.
Known internally as "Shredder" (kudos on the name), Thunderbird 3 alpha 1 comes to market with the following features:
• The new Add-ons Manager
• The address book can now read Address Book data
• New Crash Reporter (Breakpad)
• Fewer false positives when searching
• JavaScript engine improvements
• Cocoa native application

As become their habit of late, Wired has taken a preliminary look at Thunderbird 3 alpha 1:
We don't suggest you rush out and download it unless you're a true early adopter; this release isn't stable and lacks many of the features planned for Thunderbird 3's final release.
