The RIAA's turn to pay
May 15th 2008
Ars Technica brings us the happy news that exonerated P2P defendant Tanya Andersen should be awarded $107,834 in court costs and attorney fees, a federal judge has ruled--the largest award to date against the RIAA
That's a lot less than her attorneys sought--$298,995--but over three times the amount the RIAA thought it could get away with ($30,000).
However, as Ars correctly notes, all the RIAA needs is for 27 college kids to settle at $4,000 a pop and it's got the award covered.

Previously, the largest amount awarded a person wrongfully accused by the RIAA of piracy was $68,000.
Tanya Anderson is pursuing a malicious prosecution suit against the RIAA, which could expose the music industry's likely illegal practices.
Editor's note: Tanya Anderson--sticking it to the man! You go, girl!
