Innolux Display wins Apple order? [u]
June 26th 2008
Quoting unnamed industry sources, DigiTimes reports that Innolux Display has secured touch-panel orders from Apple. Although shipments slated to begin "soon," there's no indication in the write up about the size or application.
Thereupon, a BNet article offers the only bit official looking information (boiler plate) on Innolux I could find:
The major products are TFT-LCD panel module for monitor product of desktop monitors, and display units for medium- and small-sized applications, such as cellular phones, portable DVD players, etc. Future product development will continue to address medium- and small-sized TFT-LCD related products while large-sized LCD TVs will be the major products.
And, that's about as clear as mud.
Interestingly, Innolux is a member of Foxconn (Hon Hai) group, which OEM manufactures or assembles a variety of Apple products, though their website makes no mention of the company.
[u] Back in December, Electronista reported a similar rumor, adding that Innolux was thought to be a supplier of touch panels for Nokia and Samsung, both of which make iPhone competitors. [u]
Editor's note: So, there might be an order (DigiTimes has reliability issues) for large, medium or small touch-panels from a company that's a part of the Hon Hai group?
