Electronic Arts unpuckers [a little]
September 22nd 2008
BBC reports that user protests over Spore's restrictive DRM have forced Electronic Arts (EA) to partly relent. The game maker now allows users to install the popular new game on up to five computers, up from three when the title launched earlier this month.
"We've received complaints from a lot of customers who we recognise and respect," said Frank Gibeau, president, EA Games. "I believe we need to adapt our policy to accommodate our legitimate consumers."
Further, Gibeau also said the company is working to implement a means of de-authorizing computers, another sore point with users, so that a total of five installations could be active at any one time.
Spore ($50) and Spore Origins ($10) are available from the Apple Store and AppStore, respectively.
