Apple refreshes Apple Watch, introduces Apple Watch Series 2

The new Apple Watch Series 2 focuses on swimming and outdoor exercises. The new smartwatch is waterproof up to 50 meters, which will be nice even for those not interested in swimming. Also the Apple Watch Series 2 features a built-in GPS for outdoor exercise tracking. No longer will someone need to carry an iPhone to geo track their walk or run.

Other features include a dual-core S2 chip with 50% faster CPU and a new GPU. Plus a new brighter display. The Series 2 also gets a new ceramic back, which should be more durable to scratches.

With original Apple Watch also gets a speed bump with an updated dual core S1 chip and is rebranded Apple Watch Series 1.

Pricing starts at $269 for the Series 1 and $369 for the Series 2.

I'll be curious to see how watchOS 3 runs on the original Apple Watch. I'm not a swimmer nor really care much about the GPS. The added speed is important, but Watch OS 3 should help there some. The other major feature of a brighter display may also make for a compelling upgrade.
