Consumer Reports on iPad heat concerns


When unplugged, the back of the new iPad reached temperatures as high as 113 degrees Fahrenheit. It was only when plugged in that it hit 116 degrees. The hottest areas weren't evenly distributed throughout the iPad's back, but were concentrated near one corner of the display as shown in the images taken from the rear of the device above.


Tests above were the result of a 45-minute Infinity Blade II binge. Worst case appears to involve both using the device while charging. At about 113-116, that's somewhere around low setting on a typical electric heating pads. Big deal? No, but it will be entertaining to see what the media does with this info.
