ClearChannel: 350 HD2 stations support tagging

When a company says it's going to do something good, it's alway good to see it happen.

In the case of ClearChannel, last Fall they said iTunes tagging was coming to their HD2 stations. In April, the company announced that tagging was available via 340 stations.

Yesterday, ClearChannel has announced that all of its 350 HD2 stations are iTunes Tagging compatible, allowing songs played on Clear Channel Radio HD2 stations to be added to an iPod when tagged by a tagging-capable receiver with just the push of a button.

"With radio now well-established in the digital age, innovation is a priority at Clear Channel Radio, which is why we developed technology to make iTunes Tagging possible," said John Hogan, president and CEO. "With 700 of our HD stations now tagging-capable, and because of our collaboration with iTunes, iPods can now continuously be refreshed with new songs discovered on radio."

Polk Audio's I-Sonic Entertainment System 2 was the first receiver to market with iTunes Tagging. Additionally, Alpine has two aftermarket auto iTunes Tagging devices: iDA-X100 Digital Media Receiver and IVA-W505 2-DIN Mobile Media Station.

Editor's note: In our last report, there was only one tagging-capable device, Polk's Audio's I-Sonic Entertainment System 2, and now there are three. So, it's apparent that iTunes tagging isn't exactly catching on like wildfire, though there has been nice, steady progress.

Do you listen to ClearChannel HD radio? Are you using or tempted by iTunes tagging?
